Capri Day Trip from Rome
Visit the chic island of Capri on a day trip from Rome, led by an expert local guide! After traveling from Rome to Naples, cross over to the gorgeous island to see its highlights. Hop aboard a boat to the Blue Grotto if you wish, and enjoy a relaxing lunch in the hilltop village of Anacapri. Explore Capri's main town at leisure, and then leave the island for your journey back to Rome.
Start your day with a pickup from your central Rome hotel or alternatively, start your tour at a meeting point in town, near Rome Termini Station. Travel south, and as you gaze out at the pretty landscape of Castelli Romani look out for Abbey of Montecassino -- a spectacular Benedictine monastery perched atop of a hill.
After a journey of roughly three hours, arrive in the southern Italian region of Campania and head straight to its capital, Naples. At the port, hop off your coach and board your catamaran or hydrofoil boat for your 45-minute crossing to the island of Capri - the jewel of the Amalfi region's islands.
On arrival at Capri's Marina Grande harbor, hop aboard a rowing boat and relax as your guide rows you around the island to see the intriguing Blue Grotto (entry own expense). The cave is said to have sunk further into the sea since prehistoric times -- blocking out most natural light. Rays entering from an underwater cavity combine with the trickle of light from the caves' only entranceway, giving the water its magical vivid-blue effect.
Return to Marina Grande and travel by coach to the unassuming little village of Anacapri, perched high on the hills overlooking Capri town. Enjoy free time for lunch in a traditional trattoria here, and soak up incredible views of the sun-baked Bay of Naples just across the water.
Head back down the hill and explore Capri Town at leisure, perhaps visiting the elegant Piazetta (Piazza Umberto) or browsing the shops for keepsakes of Capri to take home. Meet your guide at the pre-arranged time, board your boat and return to your coach at Naples Port.
As you head out of the city, your guide will point out some of Naples' star attractions like medieval Castel Nuovo, Certona di San Martino - a sprawling monastery complex - and the Royal Palace of Naples (Palazzo Reale). Relax on the journey north back to Rome, and finish your tour near Termini Station. Alternatively, make use of a drop-off at Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia or Piazza della Repubblica; simply let your guide know on the day.

Naples and Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Start your day with a pickup from your central Rome hotel or alternatively, start your tour at a meeting point in town, near Rome Termini Station. Hit the road and travel south to Italy’s Campania region, and as you gaze out at the pretty landscape of Castelli Romani look out for Abbey of Montecassino -- a spectacular Benedictine monastery perched atop of a hill.
After a journey of roughly three hours, arrive in the southern Italian region of Campania and head straight to its capital Naples to discover its delights from the comfort of your coach. Entering the city via the coastal road from Mergellina Port, pass through Naples’ fishing quarter, Santa Lucia, and then stop for photos in front of Castel dell’Ovo - the medieval castle on the seafront.
Continue to the city’s historical center to see Piazza del Plebiscito, the impressive square that’s home to Naples Royal Palace (Palacio Real), three other Bourbon palaces, and an eye-catching colonnaded church - Basilica of San Francesco di Paola. Hear the history of Naples in its 19th-century heyday when the Bourbon kings ruled the land, and then take in more of the center’s A-list sites. See San Carlo Opera House, the Gallery of Umberto I and, finally, the imposing Castel Nuovo.
Leave the city, and travel south toward Mount Vesuvius, passing the towns of Ercolano (Herculaneum), Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata before arriving in the town of Pompeii. Experience Naples: Learn How to Make Authentic Neapolitan Pizza
Meet your host in central Naples and stroll to a nearby restaurant for your 1.5-hour pizza-making class. All utensils and equipment are provided for your session, and under the careful eye of your pizzaiolo (pizza maker), you’ll discover the culinary secrets behind making authentic Neapolitan pizza.
Naples has a refreshing keep-it-simple attitude when it comes to food, relying on the high quality of their local produce to make their dishes sing. Ruby red tomatoes, milky-fresh buffalo mozzarella, basil and DOP olive oils (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) are pizza restaurant staples, and you’ll use the best locally sourced ingredients such as these in your class.
Watch your pizzaiolo mix, knead and stretch the dough, then give it a go yourself! Neapolitan pizzas typically have doughier bases than their crispy Roman counterparts, and your pizzaiolo will explain how to get the dough worked to the right consistency. Choose from a selection of toppings, and then sit down while it bakes!
Relax with other food lovers in your group, chatting about pizza in Naples and enjoying a drink. Whet your appetite with a starter of bruschetta e zeppoline (seaweed bruschetta), then tuck into your very own Neapolitan pizza, before finishing with dolce del gioro with (dessert of the day). With this class under your belt, you’ll be able to easily make your own pizza again at home to impress your family and friends.

You'll have free time to visit Villa San Michele, the home of Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe that is located on the northeastern side of Anacapri. You'll also travel to the top of Monte Solare by chairlift before returning to Capri for lunch. In the early afternoon, take a walk to the Gardens of Augustus.
In the early afternoon, take a walk to Augustus' gardens and, time permitting, enjoy an optional visit of the Blue Grotto (additional cost) before returning to Naples.
During your free time, you have the chance to see the Blue Grotto if you wish (additional cost). A visit inside the Blue Grotto is not part of this shore excursion, but you have the option to take a boat ride to it. Only small boats can actually fit inside the grotto, and this is not guaranteed - going inside is dependent on current sea conditions and the size of the crowd, both of which may prevent your boat from getting in. Be aware that if you choose to take the optional boat trip to the Blue Grotto, you may only be able to pass outside.
