Skip the Line: Florence Accademia and Uffizi Gallery Tour

Explore Florence's two must-visit art museums - the Accademia and Uffizi galleries - on this Florence combo tour! Start with a morning skip-the-line access and guided tour of the Accademia Gallery (Galleria dell'Accademia) to see Michelangelo's statue of 'David' as well as other treasures, and then spend four hours at leisure (or select the option that includes lunch), either roaming the rooms of the gallery or strolling around the city before your next tour.

In the afternoon, skip the lines of the Uffizi Gallery, and explore it on a walking tour. Learn about the famous Renaissance artists of Italy and see highlights like Leonardo da Vinci's ‘Annunciation.'

Accademia Gallery (1 hour and 15 minutes):
Start outside the Accademia Gallery, and then head past the entrance lines with your skip-the-line ticket and guide. As you walk, listen to stories about the bounty of artwork contained inside the gallery's walls. Works by Michelangelo are given pride of place, and your guide's commentary focuses on the artist. Admire his unfinished sculptures - Prigioni and San Matteo - and then gaze in awe at the statue of David that dominates the central gallery.

Created by Michelangelo when he was just in his twenties, David was sculpted just after he carved La Pietà. Made from local Carrara marble, the statue of the nude biblical hero is incredible with life-like muscles carved to precision. Explore rooms that showcase works by Botticelli and Lippi, and learn about the characteristics of Renaissance art that are prevalent throughout the gallery.

After your tour finishes, spend four hours at leisure or you can choose to end this part of the tour with lunch at a restaurant in the town center (optional). Remain inside the gallery if you wish.

Uffizi Gallery (1 hour and 30 minutes):
Meet your guide and head inside with your skip-the-line ticket, and start exploring the gallery's treasure trove of art. Housed in a large horseshoe-shaped building, the Uffizi Gallery's history is as fascinating to hear about as the works inside it. Built as Florence's judiciary offices, the palace was decorated with fine art by the ruling Medici family. After their dynasty fell in the 18th century, the palace was opened to the public and has remained popular ever since.

Like the Accademia Gallery, the Uffizi Gallery's claim to fame is its wealth of Renaissance artwork, and your guide will talk you through its most interesting rooms. Admire early Renaissance treasures by Giotto, and then stroll through halls dedicated to Michelangelo, da Vinci, Caravaggio and Raphael - artists regarded as masters of their time. Learn about highlights like da Vinci's Annunciation and Michelangelo's Doni Tondo, and then explore the gallery's upper level to see Caravaggio's works.

Your tour finishes inside the gallery, but you can stay inside for another hour to browse the art independently.

Special Offer - Book the combo of the 'Tour Only' option and save 7% compared to booking tickets to the two museums individually. - Book Now!

Self-Drive Vintage Fiat 500 Tour from Florence: Tuscan Wine Experience

Combine a vintage Fiat 500 tour with a Tuscan wine experience on an exciting day out from Florence! Driving a classic 1960s model, you'll travel in a convoy following an expert guide into the picture-perfect hills of Tuscany. After arriving at a 15th-century villa and wine estate, you'll participate in one of two wine tours: either a wine-tasting session and vineyard tour, or a winemaking experience where you'll meet the head winemaker and stomp on the grapes!

Fiat 500s were introduced to the Italian masses at the end of the 1950s, and quickly became the nation's favorite little car. Eye-catching and stylishly retro, the earliest Fiat 500 models remain the most sought-after vintage cars in Italy today, and you'll experience their nostalgic glory on your 5-hour tour.

After meeting your expert guide at a private garage in Florence, you'll be introduced to your meticulously restored 1960s Fiat 500 and given a comprehensive safety briefing. You will have a practice session to get used to the car's manual gears. If you're the nominated driver in your group, you must be confident using them.

Leave Florence behind and head to the hills in a convoy following your guide. As you drive along secluded roads with little traffic, your guide will keep you entertained with fascinating facts about the region and its world-famous wines.

After two hours of leisurely driving through Tuscan and Chianti landscape, you'll arrive at your destination -- a beautiful 15th-century Renaissance villa and wine estate, tucked into the hills. With roughly two hours to spend here, choose between one of the following two activities to enjoy before returning to Florence:

Tour Including Wine-Tasting Session:
Learn about the region's prestigious Super Tuscan wines on a 1.5-hour tour of the wine estate. With your knowledgeable guide, explore the vineyards and cellars, and then taste several local wines. During the tour, sit down in the wine cellar to enjoy a light lunch of crostini, meats and cheeses. You'll have time to spend at leisure in the grounds after your wine-tasting tour ends-- simply relax and sun yourself in the grounds!

Tour Including Winemaking Experience:
Meet the villa's head winemaker and get an inside glimpse into the day-to-day winery work that takes place on site. As you're entertained with lively accounts of wine harvesting, learn how to cut vines and have a go at stomping your own grapes - a classic trick that kick-starts the winemaking process. Sample wines at different stages of fermentation before tasting the finished products! Lunch comes next and consists of a traditional picnic served on tables on the villa's grounds. The exact dishes will vary but you can expect cold pasta dishes, bruschetta, cured meats and salads, served alongside a small glass of Tuscan wine!

Skip the Line: Boboli Gardens with Vasari Corridor Tour, Florence

See the Vasari Corridor and Boboli Gardens in one afternoon in Florence! Following in the footsteps of 15th-century aristocrats, walk through the Vasari Corridor - the city's secret passageway - on a guided tour. Learn of the clandestine meetings and dastardly dealings that took place in this intriguing walkway, and see the beautiful Renaissance art that graces its walls. Your tour finishes in Boboli Gardens, where you will skip the entrance lines with your fast-track ticket and spend the afternoon exploring the gardens at leisure.

Built in the 1540s, the Vasari Corridor was created as a hidden walkway that connected Pitti Palace to the Uffizi Gallery on the other side of the River Arno. The Grand Duke of Florence (Cosimo I) commissioned it to be built in honor of his son's wedding; however it's believed there were other motives for its creation. A popular tale is that the anti-social duke simply wanted a secret walkway to avoid his enemies on the streets!

After meeting your guide by Pitti Palace, start your tour by looking at the fascinating corridor from the outside. Incredibly, it was built in just five months, and you'll really gain an appreciation of the hard work and toil that went into its creation as you stroll along the Ponte Vecchio - Florence's famously old bridge - before heading into the Ufizzi Gallery to enter the corridor itself.

Split into three distinct sections, the Vasari Corridor is an art lover's delight, containing an array of Renaissance paintings, sculptures and portraits. As you walk through the corridor, following the walkway back across the bridge (the route known as the 'Prince's Itinerary'), your guide will explain the stunning art collections to you. See 17th- and 18th-century paintings by Italian artists and pass the world's largest collection of self-portraits while walking above the Ponte Vecchio.

The corridor ends near the Boboli Gardens, and your guide will point you in the right direction to enter them. Head past the queues with your skip-the-line ticket and then spend as much time as you want, relaxing at leisure in this elegantly tranquil park.

Florence Walking Tour: Oltrarno Art and Crafts

Explore Florence's Oltrarno neighborhood, on the less-visited (but equally charming) side of the River Arno. Your 3-hour walking tour focuses on the intriguing Florentine art and craft traditions that are centuries old, but still alive in Oltrarno today. Meet local artists and craftsmen, visit bustling workshops, see beautiful Renaissance architecture and even try your hand at the ancient skill of paper marbling!

Meet your guide by the impressive Piazza Pitti, and stroll through the quaint streets and squares of the bohemian Oltrarno neighborhood. The lively, working-class district hums with activity of craftsmen and traders going about their day-to-day lives. The first stop on your tour is an old atelier, a traditional workshop where the owner will show off the quality art prints and engravings that are created there.

Head to a studio close by and watch a silversmith in action, creating jewelry from silver and enamel. Hear colorful tales and learn about his working life in Florence as a master craftsman. Your tour continues to a paper marbling shop, where you'll have a go yourself and create marbled paper to take home! The ancient skill of paper marbling is rarely practiced anywhere else in Italy, so this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn how to mix and apply colors to create gorgeous, marble-like swirls on paper.

After spending roughly two hours meeting Oltrarno's most interesting craftspeople and seeing their places of work, your guide will introduce you to the neighborhood's other charms. Walk through Piazza Santo Spirito, lined with restaurants, craft shops and galleries, before stepping inside its main attraction -- the beautiful Basilica de Santa Maria del Santo Spirito. Originally designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, one of the most important architects of the Renaissance era, the church is home to a wooden crucifix that was carved by a young Michelangelo when he was just 17 years old.

Your walking tour ends at the workshop of a great Florentine artist, descended from six generations of sculptors. Located in an 18th-century church, the workshop is home to a vast collection of molds, models, copies of famous monuments and replicas of classical works of art, all of which you can admire!
